    Hi! I’m Ruth Bomar.

Welcome to Home School Connection page here at A neighborhood Church. Woohoo! Home schooling – my favorite subject!

My children are all in their twenty’s. My older two are college grads and married. My youngest is employed and still lives at home.  The needs of our family changed periodically, so over the years my kids went to public and private school but were mostly homeschooled. Parents must assess their family needs and decide what type of education works best for them.

Why did I choose homeschooling for my family?

    1). Build solid family unity.

2). Cultivate the character of Christ in my children.

Babies are born into a family by God’s design. Our children learn to do life in a healthy family environment. Our children grow up and have a group of people they will always belong to and identify with - the family.

What’s the character of Christ? Patience, forgiveness, joy, love, hope, kindness. This is the kind of person we want our children to grow up to be. This is the kind of person we want in our children to marry.

Deuteronomy talks about God’s heart regarding parents teaching their children. As a young mother, I took Deuteronomy 11:19 as my charge to teach my children. I felt that if I sent them off to school for the day, I was losing their most awake and teachable moments.

    I chose to home school.
